It has woody and rich notes which develop over time into something that just makes me feel good no matter what I'm doing. Lagerfeld is a more masculine gruff fragrance, and there is some bit of enticing seductiveness scent in it too. When l first spray Lagerfeld Classic I get a big blast of spicy citrus amber notes and it pretty much stays this way for awhile. Classic by Karl Lagerfeld is an elegant and timeless fragrance that will add a sophisticated touch to your personal style. definitely not as bright citrusy and floral as the original Photo but definitely moving in the same direction. Anyway, I think adding aldehyde is a positive that's made this a better fragrance, something I'd say about perishingly few reformulations. Hermés Equipage is a classic masterpiece imo, and it's far more wearable and enjoyable than Givenchy Gentleman. Tempting tarragon, tenacious tobacco and tough tonka superbly blended with rose, amber and sexy sandalwood. Very sweet, powdery and oriental in a way that makes me think of a purple haired lady in her sixties trying to cover up the smell of cigarettes with Opium.

The drydowns are where the 2 versions are the closest, with the only difference being that the Unilever keeps the powderyness. There is no such thing as a dated scent because one day that Dior sauvage will one day be considered "dated" enjoy what you like. That said, I like this scent especially: It’s very smooth and lovely for the office, perfect as a signature fragrance. There is a sweetness in this fragrance, but it’s not the same sort of sweetness that you find in modern clubbing scents.

Still, I wouldn't recommend it for very close encounters: this is NOT a netflix-n-chill kinda scent as the journey to the dry-down can be a tad off-putting if you bury your nose in it. Second update- so my little old style art deco font bottles arrived and my god it goes on smoooooth where as the new goes on like a cat in a bag. The drydown of this fragrance reminds me of English Oak and Hazelnut by Jo Malone London, but a bit stylized, less natural, and a touch sweeter. The warmer and more sensual side emerges, the vanilla flirts with oakmoss, but the relationship is passive-aggressive.

I've owned it for years but for some silly reason only used it in the cold where it is kind of overwhelming, not so in +35°C.

A strong (but not too strong) musk with an oriental sweetness begins to develop not long after the heart notes come into play, which stay until the end. Lagerfeld Classic is one of the more elegant masculine fragrances of the 70s giving more classy vibes, perhaps it is because of those rose and jasmine notes. Having sprayed this on both arms and chest, I have to agree with the reviewer(s) that said it's best under the shirt. Treat yourself to the luxury of wearing a timeless favorite that will leave a lasting impress Very inviting and polite, versatile (I'd say it's suited for all seasons and various occasions), fairly unique (a first association was Marc Jacobs Men, though the two don't have many notes in common, like MJ's prominent fig leaf note) and with a pretty decent performance.
