This book is about Lisa’s quest to be a mum and pretty much reflects my personal experience too ( just the surrogacy consideration was different). If anyone reading this is struggling to have children please pick up this book it will give you courage and their is help available out their. For anyone who has ever found themselves facing the unexpected in life - whether that's infertility, adoption, grief or any other personal challenge - this is an uplifting and honest account of finding love in unexpected places, and building your life on your own terms. Hearst UK is the trading name of the National Magazine Company Ltd, 30 Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4AJ. It covers some really powerful topics such as miscarriage and the struggles of those who are trying to have a family.

All the experiences are so well written and I’ve found this to be a very therapeutic and uplifting book as I too parent plus. Every time it failed, I felt my body had betrayed me, that I hadn’t looked after that precious embryo well enough. When the doctor told me this, I had no idea they wouldn’t be able to move the baby to where it was meant to be, that I’d need surgery to have my tube removed. Luckily I got a miracle child with ivf but a friend has recently adopted and this has really helped me understand what she has been through too. The things that I utterly relate to are that she always felt on the outside and that the grief never leaves you .Over two years, my then-partner Chris and I went from trying to get pregnant naturally to having our fertility tested (everything looked normal) and going through IVF three times.

While the assessments were being carried out by the courts, as well as giving Billie her everyday care, we would be taking her for regular contact visits with her birth mother and monthly ‘looked-after child reviews’ with social services, not to mention being on the receiving end of home visits from social workers and district nurses. Chris and I stood on the other side of that door for about 20 minutes, looking at each other and listening to her gurgling into her bottle and singing to herself, hardly daring to move or make a sound for fear that we might disturb her. One minute she was in a foster home, now she was with us, a different set of people looking after her, yet within the space of a day, things felt almost normal.I would recommend this book to anyone who is experiencing infertility as it will remind you that you are not alone in your feelings, even on those darker days.
