The cycle could always be in a state of repair, the cycle didn't have to run and, the best one yet, it didn't even have to be in your possession. An interesting look into the counter-culture of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club in the 1950’s and 60’s. In October 2018, Jeff Nichols revealed he had been thinking about making a biker film set in the 1960s for five years, although he did not at that stage have a script, and mentioned the idea on the set of his short film Long Way Back Home to Michael Shannon, who reportedly told him "You've been talking about that damn idea for so long. Ein amerikanischer Fotobuch-Klassiker der 60er, eines der wichtigsten Bücher in der Geschichte der Fotografie: Andrew Roth, The Book of 101 Books, Seite 190/191; Martin Parr, Gerry Badger, The Photobook, volume 1, Seite 256; Hasselblad Center, The Open Book, Seite 236/237).

A nice copy: Fine clothbound hardcover with a small bump to one edge of one board, a red dot to the bottom edge of the text block which has bled a bit onto some interior pages, and an inscription to the ffep in a Fine dust jacket with a touch of rubbing to the extremities and two tiny closed tears. It tells a fictional story inspired by the 1967 photo-book of the same name by Danny Lyon depicting the lives of the Outlaws MC, a Chicago-based motorcycle club.

Thompson rode a BSA Lightning 650, Lyon rode a Triumph TR6 and the bikers rode Harley Davidsons, but what really separated the reporters from their subjects was violence and the fear of violence. It was just cool to see and read real people's lives and accounts of things that they've been through. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, Norman Reedus, and Tom Hardy. Lyon's important first book, a collection of black and white photographs of the bikers from the Chicago Outlaws. After graduating in June 1963, he joined the SNCC as its first staff photographer, remaining in the role until mid-1964, when fraught internal politics and his own ambitions meant it was time to move on.On a Lucero fan note, I'm noticing on this read through that Benny isn't even a central character in the text, but he's the most Lucero fan character, a born loser with a sort of charisma that makes him hard not to like.

On December 8, it was announced that Focus had scheduled the film for a theatrical release in the United States on June 21, 2024. This book is responsible for a good share of popularising their high speed abandon and raucous camaraderie. His many books include The Movement (1964), The Destruction of Lower Manhattan (1969), Conversations with the Dead (1971), Knave of Hearts (1999), Like a Thief’s Dream (2007), and Deep Sea Diver (2011). Put in context of the mid-sixties, Danny Lyon fills an empty chasm left between 'The Wild One' and 'Easy Rider', documenting an important epoch of American subculture. The text part is a series of brief snippets or interviews with a cast of characters and sharing some of their experiences that are not connected or give away much information about anything in particular. The song is directly inspired by photojournalist Danny Lyon’s book The Bikeriders, a collection of photographs and interviews with members of the Chicago Outlaws motorcycle club in the mid 60’s.

The Outlaws were formed in the 1930s in Illinois, so they are among the oldest of the 1% outlaw clubs, and the largest in the Midwest. This is a nice clean copy, the binding is strong, The text is clean and pages are not torn or dirty.
