I very much enjoyed the mini chapter summaries which are frequently quirkily deadpan and surprising such as ‘How I delivered Bob Monkhouse’s babies’ or ‘Some questionable behaviour with bongos’. Random House presents the complete, unabridged audiobook of My Lives: From Del Boy to Granville, Pop Larkin to Frost by David Jason. The book itself was an enjoyable read covering David's career from humble beginnings to the pinnacle of fame. Humorous, at times moving, but no real revelations or deep insight here although Jason comes across as a really nice bloke.

Not only is this an interesting read, it is written as though Jason himself were sat with you, remembering his past and telling the best and funniest of his tales. Toad in The Wind in the Willows, the BFG in the 1989 film, and the title characters of Danger Mouse and Count Duckula.Jason's "Jack Frost" persona through watching his sterling performances on the series "A Touch of Frost" which was shown here in Canada, but otherwise, I knew little about his acting career or life. In this inspiring, uplifting and heartwarming memoir, world-renowned veterinary surgeon Professor Noel Fitzpatrick explores his journey to becoming The Supervet.

David Jason rejected for lead role in Some Mothers Do 'Ave Em because BBC execs thought he lacked 'star quality' ". Barker would become a mentor to David, leading to hugely successful stints in Porridge and Open All Hours. But life hasn't all been so easy- from missing out on a key role in Dad's Army to nearly drowning in a freak diving accident, David has had his fair share of ups and downs, and has lost some of his nearest and dearest along the way. Although he had no theatrical training, he obviously had a natural ability which he is very modest about. These include Skullion in Porterhouse Blue (for Channel 4), Sidney "Pop" Larkin in the rural idyll The Darling Buds of May ( Yorkshire Television/ ITV), based on the H. David’s is a touching, funny and warm-hearted story, which charts the course of his incredible five decades at the top of the entertainment business. In 1981, Jason was cast as Del Boy Trotter in the BBC situation comedy Only Fools and Horses, created by John Sullivan. Many people think they know David from the countless books that have been written on him but I have been waiting for this book for a very long time.

In September 2006, Jason topped the poll to find TV's 50 Greatest Stars, as part of ITV's 50th anniversary celebrations. For me the middle part of the book was a bit dry and I guess not knowing all the old actors and actresses of the 60's and 70's it was not my favorite book. Already 3 chapters in on my Kindle version – started reading it at 3am this morning – great read so far – don’t forget DJ is also on the Chris Evans Breakfast Show tomorrow morning (11th October). As entertaining and amusing as David Jason himself, this takes the reader through everything he has from his early years avoiding bombs in London to his time as an electrician and his breakthrough moments as a comedian and actor. On my list of favourite actors and great to read about other stars and all the plays/tv Sir David has been connected too, especially the "governor" Ronnie Barker. Seldom have I had the good fortune to read (listen) to such an entertaining, amusing and well written autobiography.

This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees. His stories before he decided to become an actor, learning various trades, resulted in some great stories.I didn't find this time in David's life particularly interesting, as I thought I could have been reading about any actor at that point. Michael Fenton-Stevens makes a very professional job of the reading, putting a lot of humour into the anecdotes and doing a few voices sparingly, so that it doesn't distract from the text. All pictures unless otherwise stated have been taken by me, Rebecca Smith – the sole author of this blog.
