If you've read his "Noticer" books, you can appreciate this particular talent and perspective that he shares through his books. Jane Costello is the Sunday Times bestselling author of 14 books, five of which were written under the name Catherine Isaac. An audio book of 'The Small Things' was graciously provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

The Little Things celebrates the joy and comfort to be found in life’s simple moments, whether it’s spitting cherry pips or bubbly baths on rainy nights. Lesson: We need to spend less time setting goals to satisfy the expectations of other people and use more time concentrating upon legitimately increasing the level of what we really believe is possible. It's a thoughtful look at how the big events in life threaten to drown us, but it's those little things which cause all the problems. It’s a romance about needing to find the person you can be yourself with but still feel that desire to rip their clothes off and mount them like a bull… or at least a tall, dark and curly haired pediatric nurse. It was between two people who cared a lot about each other but just happened to be together in a time that their lives weren't compatible. At times he was brutally honest with her in an effort to make her understand the finality of the situation. The pandas themselves are sweet and expressive, and when the last page ends on a hug between panda parent and child, you'll inevitably want to grab your little one for a big snuggle, too. While I agree that you should be allowed to choose your beliefs but not your verifiable facts (especially in this day and age), his complete dismissal of the idea of relativism was a bit much, IMO.

In her latest collection of loveliness Mandy draws inspiration from the things around her that make her smile. No matter how great or small your sphere of influence is, we all interact with someone, our actions are noted by someone, or words affect someone - if you take the time to reflect on these short chapters/lessons, I believe those interactions will result in more positive outcomes. In this selection of more than 80 poems from Singapore and around the world, poets look afresh at things mundane and universal, from birth to growing up and first love to old age and death.Added to that has been the growing circle of those who perhaps first as holiday visitors to the gallery have found a ready welcome from the working artist and seen the strength of his work. He claims to be a professional “Noticer” (based also in many of his other books) who often sees things that others do not observe during our day-to-day activities. Really, his stories and thoughts stand well enough on their own and people would talk about him and his books even without him having to tell us how wonderful he is every chapter.

It's a super sweet and relatively low angst romance about a guy who's muddling along quite nicely when his world gets turned upside down.

If you are looking for reasons to sweat the smaller things in life, not to become fearful of them, but more showing how the smaller things we do can have great impact during one’s life and even afterwards.
