It composes of unlikable characters. I just want everyone to shut up and do something good for once and not to sweep everything under the rag. In general, they grated on my nerves. I was fuming all through out. I hate how the characters are so damn good in what they are supposed to be portraying. I hate the in laws. I hate the kids too! Ella is everything Clare is not... young, beautiful, alluring, stylish. She knows a secret about Clare ... a secret that will tear this family apart if it becomes known. I hated Dan character so much , he is disgusting and pathetic and mummy boy and i swear to god that i know that Ella dead sister will be one of his mistresses.
With his new secret bride, Ella, a Insta goddess with a perfect body and an evil tongue that she takes no time in using to lash Clare, and once she starts she wont stop, but why is she so against Clare? what has Clare done and who is this evil beauty Ella? I give this book 2 stars. I kept hoping it would get better; that at some point the plot twist would appear and redeem my review…and it just didn’t.
The rest of the story is told on pins and needles as the main character is frantic with worry over what her new sister in law may or may not tell everyone. What can she do? what should she do? What will happen if she does nothing? And more importantly....what is her big secret?? Oh the tension and suspense! This book does not disappoint! I only wish the ending had more fall out for some characters and we got to see more action from it. Rounding out the group will be Dan’s BROTHER, Jamie, the prodigal son, who is often traveling abroad but plans to join them a day or so later... I really have to question Kate's decisions throughout much of the book. And I want to slap her husband too. Honestly, what was wrong with the man? But Kate...why could she not believe her sister? She should know her sister better than anyone and yes, given her past, know how unreliable she could be. But really, she seemed perfectly lucid to me and yet Kate still refuted her claims. But her bad decisions didn't end there...but I will. You will need to read the book to shake you head at the stupid decisions she makes and circumstances she lets herself fall into.
She is everything that Clare is not. A woman who self describes as one who wants to move into stuff that REALLY matters-photography, blogging, and saving the planet! Make sure you read to the very end of the book to read the first chapter of Ruth's 'Dear Sister' which promises to be just as addictive as this book and is one I'm definitely looking forward to reading myself!! OMG!!! SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!! WHAT HAVE I JUST READ!?!?!? Ruth Harrow you are an absolute writing legend!!! Absolutely love the constant unexpected twists!! This is what life was all about-family, people you love, your children close by, everyone safe, warm and happy.”The fact Ruth Harrow has interwoven a truth about our lives today into this story adds to the thrill of finding out what the truth actually is. The fact that all the characters aren't what the reader thinks adds some more to this psychological thriller. A great story which I can definitely recommend.
